Casino Employees Threaten Strike Over Unpaid 14th-Month Bonuses

Employees at Mauritius Casinos are agitated over the non-payment of their 14th-month salary for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, along with delays in renegotiating their collective agreement.
This has led to the threat of a general strike. The 14th-month salary, considered an attendance bonus, has only been partially paid, causing frustration.
Discussions about the collective agreement’s renewal have been repeatedly postponed. Employees are considering a demonstration and possible strike if their concerns are not addressed.
They plan to send a handwritten letter to the Prime Minister’s Office, demanding both payment and the removal of the State Investment Corporation board.
The SIC acknowledges financial challenges but assures efforts to address worker concerns.
