MSM Stalwart Gets Top CEO Job Despite Form 5 Education

Hans Marguerite, recently appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Empowerment Foundation (NEF) on a contractual basis, has drawn attention due to his educational background.

It was revealed during a parliamentary session on October 17 that Marguerite, a former MSM Mayor of Curepipe, possesses qualifications only up to Form 5 (O-levels). 

It was also revealed that Marguerite’s new monthly compensation package includes a salary of Rs 123,000, a transport allowance of Rs 13,000, and a car allowance of about Rs 82,000. 

These revelations prompted queries from opposition MP Rajesh Bhagwan regarding Marguerite’s suitability for the role.

In response, Minister Fazila Jeewa Daureeawoo affirmed that Marguerite’s educational qualifications align with the role, insisting on his “clean certificate of good conduct” as further validation.
