Immigration authorities in Mauritius are actively targeting illegal foreign nationals who pose as healers, enter the country on tourist visas, and then overstay their welcome.

The Passport and Immigration Office’s “Tracking Team” has reportedly arrest eight individuals from India involved in this scam.

These imposters distribute flyers at local events and supermarkets, promising solutions to financial and romantic problems.

The authorities have initiated various operations to arrest these fraudsters, resulting in recent arrests.

Mauritius is witnessing a resurgence of fake healers from abroad, with strict legal consequences for those who exploit this trade, including hefty fines and imprisonment.

Mauritius has strict laws against predicting the future for monetary gain, with penalties ranging up to 30 years of imprisonment.

Authorities aim to repatriate and prohibit these fraudsters from re-entering the country.
