Local Reservoirs See Water Levels Decline, Raising Concerns of Water Shortages

The Nicolière reservoir, with a capacity of 5.26 million cubic meters, has seen its water levels drop to 52.7% from 61.2% the previous week.

This decline is attributed to a lack of significant rainfall, with only 49% of expected precipitation recorded in the first 15 days of September.

As a result, concerns about water quality have arisen, particularly in areas like Grand-Baie and Péreybère, which rely heavily on the Nicolière reservoir.

Despite efforts to address the situation, the Vacoas meteorological station does not anticipate substantial rain in the near future.
