Geotechnical Study Reveals 62 Landslide-Prone Sites in Mauritius

According to a geotechnical study, 62 sites in Mauritius are at risk of landslides.
This announcement was made by the Minister of National Infrastructures, Bobby Hurreeram.
It was the Geotechnical Unit of the ministry, in close collaboration with Japanese expert Ken Ishikawa, that conducted a study and compiled a map of landslide risks.
However, he did not disclose the specific locations of these 62 areas. “Our priority is to assess the severity of each site and establish a landslide management plan,” he said.
The plan will serve as a roadmap for respective authorities to “secure these sites and their residents.”
