The Central Electricity Board (CEB) faces significant financial challenges, reporting a deficit of Rs 32,923,307 for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

In the latest report, an even larger deficit of Rs 4,196,728,028 was recorded for the 2021/2022 fiscal year.

CEO Rajden Chowdarry attributed this situation to factors like lockdowns and fuel prices.

He highlighted the need for vigilance due to volatile economic conditions.

Energy expert Khalil Elahee noted a recent tariff increase targeting specific consumers, leading to a substantial revenue rise, amounting to at least Rs 1 billion per month.

However, a concerning deficit exists between supply and demand. Next summer, a peak in demand is anticipated.
