Urgent Warning: Beware of Mysterious Calls from Ghana  (+233)

Mauritius, brace yourselves for a new wave of danger lurking in your phone lines. Mauritius Telecom has just sounded the alarms as reports flood in of unsuspecting subscribers receiving eerie calls from Ghana, with its dial code +233.

The sinister twist? These aren’t regular calls from a friend in Ghana. They come disguised as familiar rings but are spam calls.

Cybersecurity specialist Shateeaum Sewpaul, on air with RadioPlus, warned that answering these calls is like opening Pandora’s box, inviting hacking and intrusion into your phone.

Mauritius Telecom said it is vigilantly watching. They are reportedly blocking these dubious numbers in real-time, but the danger still looms. Few complaints have trickled in, but the threat is real.

Mauritius Telecom’s warning is clear: Exercise great caution and refrain from answering such calls, while also blocking these numbers on your mobile phones.
