Emtel launches 5G mobile network

Emtel has launched its 5G mobile network, during a ceremony at Royal Green, Moka.

The telecommunications operator announced that approximately 60% of the localities in Mauritius, equivalent to 200 sites, are now covered by the 5G network.

To enjoy internet connectivity through the 5G network, users need to have a compatible smartphone and activate the ‘data’ function.

With the 5G technology in place, users can experience maximum download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps).
