India’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah has told a group of trainee police officers, including 10 from Mauritius, to dedicate themselves to building a ‘strong India’.

The 10 Mauritians were among the 29 foreign trainees who underwent Indian Police Service (IPS) training at the SVP National Police Academy on Saturday.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of the 74th batch of IPS trainee officers, paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister as from in 1947, is historically known to have rejected as impractical Gandhi’s nonviolence policies and was among the staunch supporters of India/Pakistan partition.

While congratulating trainee officers passing out from the Academy, Shah asked the officer trainees to dedicate themselves to “build a stronger India by the time the 100th year of Indian independence was celebrated in 2047”.

He also praised the BJP Government’s “crackdown” against Maoist leaderships and the Popular Front of India (PFI) – whose purported objective is to resist the rising right-wing Hindutva politics in India.

The statement came only days after the Mauritius Police Force acquired a new Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) from India.
