Mauritius MP calls for unification of opposition to eject PM Jugnauth
Left: PM Pravind Jugnauth; Right: MMM Leader Paul Berenger

The ongoing Franklin drug controversy and the alleged inaction of authorities in Mauritius to extradite the drug dealer to Reunion Island, where he has been convicted, are reasons enough for an opposition alliance in order to eject Pravind Jugnauth from power, MMM leader and Member of Parliament Paul Berenger has claimed.

In an earlier press release through his lawyer, Me S. Sonah-Ori, Jugnauth had warned against any “malicious connection between his person and a money laundering case in the news” – the Franklin case.

“The MSM has allowed all institutions of the country to be rotten. Everyone knows who has been supporting Franklin for years and allowed him to become the kingpin of the west. This will have to be punished by a Court of law some day”, Berenger said.

Surrounded by other MMM MPs, Paul Bérenger laid emphasis on the importance of a Labour/MMM/PMSD alliance.

“We need a break. It is in the interest of our country that we conclude these discussions as soon as possible,” he said.
