The Electronic Queue Management System, “Mo Rendez Vous” is the champion, under the category “Enabling Environment”, at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) of the International Telecommunication Union Prizes 2022.
An award ceremony will be held on 31 May 2022 during the last week of the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2022 at the International Telecommunication Union headquarters in Geneva.
The Electronic Queue Management System (EQMS/MoRendezVous), a project of the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Technology, implemented since February 2021, was nominated for the WSIS Award, one of the most prestigious International IT awards.
The EQMS is being integrated in different services to help organisations to manage queues more efficiently and reduce the waiting time for the public. It provides the following functionalities amongst others:
• Queue and service counter management
• Possibility to take an appointment, as per each citizen’s availability and no waiting time for appointment
• Ticket dispensing through physical means (digital kiosk) or through online means (web and mobile app)
• Notification of turn through different means (audio, visual, mobile app, online…)
• Reporting/statistics features
In the first instance, the EQMS has been implemented at 7 pilot sites namely at: Passport and Immigration Office; Work Permit Unit; Pharmaceutical Unit at Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital; Mauritius National Identity Card Offices – Flacq, Port-Louis, Rose-Hill; and National Land Transport Authority – Port-Louis Branch.
The EQMS/MoRendezVous mobile application was also successfully used for the Pere Laval Pilgrimage and the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Citizens can register to the EQMS through https://morendezvous.govmu.org or through the MoRendezVous mobile application.
