Mauritius to host Africa’s largest broadcasting facility
European production services firm Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) has linked with MediaCity Mauritius (MCM) to develop a new broadcasting centre designed to act as a gateway to Africa.
Broadcasting Center Africa (BCA) aims to attract broadcasters and production firms, as well as companies from the entertainment, media, advertising, video game and e-sports industries that are looking operate across the continent, Television Business International reported.
BCE said the hub would offer “up-to-date technological facilities in terms of broadcast equipment, hardware and software”, supporting production, post-production and broadcasting/streaming capabilities.
The aim is to establish the largest broadcasting centre in Africa with a view to securing regional content producers and international companies willing to relocate in order to benefit from what BCE described as “a competitive value proposition in a compelling location”.
MediaCity Mauritius CEO, Najib Gouiaa, said the agreement was the “result of months of intense collaboration to bring industry-leading standards to MediaCity Mauritius, for all creative endeavours and world-class industry players that seek to establish themselves in Africa…”
