Inflation: gasoline up, vegetables up, healthcare up

The inflation rate has soared from 4% in December 2021 to 4.6% in January 2022, according to latest data released by Statistics Mauritius.

Year-on-year inflation stood at 7.4% in January 2022 against 6.8% in December 2021. Statistics Mauritius said the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.6 points or 1.4% from 113.3 in December 2021 to 114.9 in January 2022.

The main contributors to the change in the index between December 2021 and January 2022 were gasoline, vegetables and healthcare.
