Flight from South Africa: Police ask travellers' relatives to avoid airport

Friends and relatives of travellers arriving in Mauritius from South Africa will not be able to access Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport, Police have warned.

The passengers, they explained, will be taken directly to quarantine centres.

As such family and friends will not be allowed to approach the travellers anyway.

The new protocols come in the wake of stricter screening imposed on travellers from South Africa.

A first repatriation flight from South Africa is scheduled for this Sunday.

Students and patients who were in the country for medical reasons are on the priority list.
