Covid death toll remains high, 119 killed this week

Another 119 people have died in Mauritius from COVID-19 over the past week, as the virus continues its spread.

Of the 119 deaths from 25 November to 01 December 2021, representing an average 17 deaths per day, 48 patients were vaccinated, representing 40%, while 71 patients  were unvaccinated.

And 28 such patients (23%) were under the age of 60; 91 over the age of 60.

According to figures as at 2 December 2021, there were 979 active cases of COVID-19, out of which 29 were admitted at the New ENT Hospital.

A significant number of deaths, mostly among those isolating at home, are alleged to go unreported in official figures.
