BDO’s Group Managing Partner, Yacoob Ramtoola, who was appointed Special Administrator and responsible for the sale of the ex-BAI group shares in Britam, has filed an application for judicial review before the Supreme Court to contest the report of the Commission of Inquiry “in its entirety”.

In his affidavit, Ramtoola said the report’s recommendations undermine his integrity and that of BDO. The Commission had concluded that Ramtoola and several other people and entities had given false testimony and submitted forged documents.

He claimed that one of the assessors of the Inquiry, Sattar Hajee Abdoula, “is not only a competitor of BDO but it had also refused to pay him Rs 26 million.”
