Île aux Cerfs: 20th Best Beach in the World

A list of the 34 most stunning sites and beaches on the planet has been compiled from America to Oceania, and from Europe to Africa and Asia.

And the Île aux Cerfs, on the eastern coast of Mauritius, has been named the 20th Best Beach in the World.

The ranking was revealed by the respected international magazine Condé Nast Traveller.

Named after the deer imported from Java for hunting, Île aux Cerfs in Mauritius has become somewhat of a victim of its own famous beauty, with much of it overrun by intrusive crowds and pesky beach vendors.

But a half-mile hike along the beach will reward you with incredible island beaches that you can have all to yourself. “This place is popular for a reason,” explains Condé Nast Traveller.

According to the magazine, the most beautiful beach in the world is Palm Cove in Queensland, Australia, followed by Honopu in Hawaii and Brekon in Scotland.

Wategos Beach in Byron Bay, Australia, and Ora Beach in Maluku, Indonesia, round out the top 10.

The first African beach on the list is Die Plaat, located in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve in South Africa.
