These new voices, declared Sylvan Oxenham, chairman of the Made in Moris Brand Committee, will amplify the advocacy for the promotion of the local industry. Made in Moris has welcomed 13 new members for the period 2023 – early 2024. They are involved in various sectors of economic activity.

During an event held recently at the Sugar Adventure for the new members, Sylvan Oxenham, chairman of the Made in Moris Brand Committee, emphasized the growing popularity of the label.

“This is a good sign. Each new member represents a significant part of our economy. We look forward to collaborating with all these players in the local industry. At Made in Moris, we believe in the collective and welcome these new voices that will amplify our advocacy for the promotion of the local industry,” Oxenham said.

Taking into account the major challenges facing the country, Shirin Gunny highlighted the importance of the local industry:

“Today more than ever, our country is facing enormous and urgent challenges, such as energy transition, sustainable development, waste recycling, circular economy, ecology, biodiversity, food security, not to mention the alarming human resources situation. It is clear that one of the best transformation vectors for our country remains the local industry.”

“Therefore, it is urgent and strategic to reposition the manufacturing sector, and more specifically the Domestic Oriented Enterprises (DOE), as a strategic development pillar for today’s and tomorrow’s Mauritius,” explained the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers and Made in Moris.

According to Shirin Gunny, Mauritius’ ecological transition cannot happen without the local industry, nor without the men and women who make it thrive.

The various sectors where the new members operate include production, textiles, agri-food, hotel services, cultural sector, and technology, among others.

Fertifort (Ingenia), Juice, JuicePRO, and Punch, three MCB brands, DECO B, Ideco, Marble & Stones, Proxifresh, The Sugar Adventure, 5* Recipes (Foodwise), Bel Ami, BonKoutirUniforms, and the MAMA JAZ Festival.

Dominic Provencal, Head of Business Banking at MCB: “Promoting the economy is a duty we all share.” The mission of Made in Moris is in line with MCB’s concept “Lokal is Beautiful” which aims to promote the growth of Mauritian businesses, says Dominic Provencal.

The Head of Business Banking at MCB states that “these companies are the pillars of our economy, creating jobs, stimulating innovation, and contributing to the prosperity of the nation. That is why, as financial partners of SMEs, we will continue to support initiatives led by Made in Moris. Promoting the economy is a duty we all share. We have recently enhanced our ‘Lokal is Beautiful’ financing plan designed to support entrepreneurs engaged in the maker, smart or circular island.”
