More Alleged Excessive Expenses by Health Ministry Exposed
Labour MP Eshan Juman has accused the Health Ministry of incurring “abusive” expenses.
Besides an earlier revelation on the purchase of alcohol – one invoice showing an order of nine bottles of wine, three bottles of Black Label whisky, and other purchases – Juman has made public other bills.
These include expenditures of Rs598,830 for opening ceremonies at medical centres, Rs388,750 for an official event in April, and Rs16,000 for catering services for 150 guests.
Juman stated that there seemed to be little control on spending and criticised the Ministry and its minister for the alleged “exaggeration.”
The Ministry did not give a comment regarding the alcohol and denied any wrongdoing with regard to contracts for official events.
