Growing Calls to Suspend Diplomatic Ties with Israel 

A joint statement led by Lalit and supported by at least 15 prominent associations, trade unions, and individuals from Mauritius and Rodrigues, has called for the immediate suspension of diplomatic relations with Israel to achieve an urgent ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement urges the government to follow the example of countries like South Africa in recalling their ambassadors to Tel Aviv to avoid supporting what is seen as genocide.

It emphasises the need to save the lives of Palestinians, particularly children and women.

The signatories include prominent individuals and organisations, and there is a growing international movement supporting this cause.

Lalit also demands the closure of the US military base in Diego Garcia and accuses the US of politically supporting Israel.

The situation is regarded as urgent, and more signatories are reportedly joining the statement.
