Odysseo reports loss of Rs 31.1 million
Since its opening in September 2021, the Odysseo Aquarium, developed by the Eclosia group, has posted an increase in revenue.
However, its net profit is negative for the closing accounts at the end of June 2023.
Its revenue increased by 15% to Rs 97.8 million (compared to Rs 84.8 million for the previous year), while its losses increased to Rs 31.1 million from Rs 24.2 million the previous year.
Odysseo said that “operating costs increased significantly due to high inflationary pressures.”
Its priority for the current fiscal year will be to attract more foreign visitors while consolidating the local market, introducing new activities and improving its visibility.
Odysseo is the largest oceanarium in the region and the first of its kind in Mauritius. Its construction began in June 2017, and it was inaugurated in August 2021.
This attraction showcases the beauty of the marine ecosystem, as well as a unique space for playful learning and education.
