Port-Louis Councillors Walk out During Question on Citadel concert

Opposition councillors walked out of a Port-Louis Municipal Council meeting held on Thursday afternoon October 26.

Dr. Mamade Khodabaccus, the Secretary-General of the PMSD, was seeking to understand why the issue of the permit granted for the concert held at the Citadel last Saturday was not recorded in the minutes of the Business and Permit Monitoring Committee, which had met on October 18.

In response, the Lord Mayor stated that he would provide an answer to this question within five days.

This answer provoked strong emotions in the council, leading the opposition councillors to leave the meeting. They claimed that the council had acted illegally.

The Lord Mayor of Port-Louis declined to comment.
