Mauritius Receives 4 Distinctions at 2023 World Travel Awards

Mauritius has reaffirmed its reputation as the leading destination in the region by receiving four major awards at the 2023 World Travel Awards (WTA) for the Indian Ocean.

The prestigious annual event recognises excellence in various categories of travel, tourism, and hospitality, and is regarded as the most prestigious program in global tourism distinction.

The winners are determined by votes from travel industry professionals and the public, and were announced at a gala event held on October 15th at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai.

Mauritius stood out in four categories: “Best Adventure Tourism Destination in the Indian Ocean,” “Best Wedding Destination in the Indian Ocean,” “Best Sustainable Tourism Destination in the Indian Ocean,” and “Best Cruise Destination in the Indian Ocean.”

“We are honoured by this recognition of excellence and proud to have received these four awards. Mauritius offers a multitude of immersive experiences and is more than just an island; it is an island nation that caters to the needs of a diverse range of tourism segments,” said Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority.

For the local tourism industry, achieving all these awards at the highest level in various categories at the WTA is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating the resilience of our sector.
