Hunger Index: Mauritius ranks 61st in the world

Mauritius ranks 61st in the world on the Hunger Index with an improved score of 13.6, according to recent data published by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in the US.

Tunisia tops the list with the lowest hunger index of 5.9 among the 125 countries surveyed, followed by Algeria ranking 33rd in the world with an index of 6.8. Other African countries show positive results in the fight against hunger, with moderate hunger indices ranging from 10 to 19.9.

While some progress has been made, the report notes that hunger remains a serious or alarming issue for 43 countries.
