13 Arrested in Connection with La Citadelle Incident, Including 2 Police Officers
Police in Mauritius have arrested 13 individuals in connection with the disturbances that occurred during the “Gran Konser” at La Citadelle on the night of 21st October.
Among those detained are two police officers, with additional arrests expected to follow, according to Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Dip at a press briefing on 24th October.
“We strongly condemn the incidents that have occurred. We live in a democratic and multiracial country, and we cannot tolerate such acts.
It is unfortunate that there are malicious individuals who have incited violence, damaged instruments, and sowed terror.
We have videos and photos, and we will not rest until all participants in this incident are arrested,” said Dip.
He also warned that individuals seeking to disrupt peace in Mauritius would face severe legal consequences and urged the public not to panic.
“The situation is under control. Police forces are strengthening their vigilance on the ground and are also monitoring social networks,” he added.
The trouble at the “Gran Konser,” which took place to celebrate Attitude Hotels’ 15th anniversary in collaboration with La Isla Social Club, began after approximately 30 masked men stormed the venue following a performance by The Prophecy.
The suspects demanded that spectators leave and the concert be ended.
