More than 50 foreign workers, residing irregularly in Mauritius, were apprehended during a crackdown operation on Thursday morning, October 12.

The majority of these individuals hail from Bangladesh, Madagascar, and Nigeria.

The operation was carried out by officers from the Passport and Immigration Office in the regions of Plaine-Verte, Vallée-des-Prêtres, and Grand-Baie.

According to Defi Media, these foreign nationals chose to remain in Mauritius unlawfully after their residence permits had expired, engaging in unauthorised employment.

They will all face legal proceedings, pending their deportation.
