Severe Staff Shortage Hits Judicial Services, Prompting Calls for Urgent Action

A severe staff shortage is currently plaguing the judicial services at all levels, negatively impacting their efficient operation.

The officers working in the judiciary are under immense pressure, leading to declining health.

They struggle to meet the demands of those seeking justice and maintain the proper functioning of court operations.

Concerns about this shortage were first raised in 2019, and despite efforts to address it, the problem persists.

The Court Officers’ Association (COA) has called for action to fill vacant positions, including 33 new Court Officer positions that were anticipated in the 2023-2024 Budget.

Despite initial steps, recruitment procedures have been delayed, prompting the COA to seek intervention from the State and Other Employees’ Association (SEF) and the Public Service Commission (PSC).
