PR Capital Submits EIA Application for Controversial Smart City Project

PR Capital, the company behind the proposed “Smart City” in Roches-Noires, has submitted a fresh application for an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) to the Ministry of Environment.

The project, spanning 358 hectares and encompassing wetlands and ecologically sensitive areas, is planned to unfold over three phases in a ten-year span, with an investment of Rs 41 billion.

PR Capital anticipates the creation of 2,664 jobs upon completion. However, concerns persist among environmental groups and citizens about potential irreversible damage to the delicate ecosystem.

Endemic species have been documented in the area. The project’s fate now lies with the Environmental authorities who will evaluate its potential effects on the environment.
