Political Agitations Intensify 16 Days Ahead of Parliament's Return

With just 16 days until the Parliament reconvenes and five weeks until the start of the fifth year of the current legislative term, political activities in Mauritius are intensifying.

Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth celebrated the International Day of Older Persons, targeting the elderly population.

Meanwhile, in constituencies like Rivière-des-Anguilles/Souillac (No 13), ministers Renganaden Padayachy and Kailesh Jagutpal are taking proactive steps to reconnect with supporters and strengthen their presence.

Key political developments, such as a Privy Council judgment on an election petition and negotiations over the Chagos issue, are pending and could significantly impact the political timeline.

As preparations for the upcoming electoral campaign intensify, political actors are mobilising across various demographics to secure support.
