Former Finance Minister Rama Sithanen addressed the shortage of human capital in the financial services sector during a recent roundtable discussion organised by Mauritius Finance.

He proposed pragmatic solutions, including tapping into talent from the African continent and leveraging technology like automation.

Sithanen emphasized the need to attract individuals to work in Mauritius and make salaries more competitive.

A report by Mauritius Finance revealed that some organizations offered salaries lower than the minimum wage to school leavers.

Shahed Hoolash, Managing Director of Vistra, noted that the pandemic had changed how employees operate in the financial sector, making them feel empowered and valued.
