The NGO SOS Patrimoine en Péril (Heritage in Peril) has raised concerns over the design of the conversion project for the century-old IBL stone building located opposite the Metro station, questioning if it underwent a Heritage/Visual Impact Assessment.

The organisation has reached out to the National Heritage Fund, expressing fears that the historic essence of the building may be lost.

The building, which formerly housed the Mauritius Government Railways, is set to undergo a major transformation as part of a project by Bloomage, the real estate investment arm of the IBL Group.
