446 Fewer Marriages Recorded in Mauritius

The number of marriages in Mauritius has seen a decline, with 446 fewer marriages recorded from January to June in 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.

This represents a 9.8% decrease, according to a report by Statistics Mauritius.

As a result, the crude marriage rate for the first half of 2023 is 14.9 per 1,000 inhabitants, slightly lower than the 15.1 recorded during the same period in 2022.

Approximately 9,400 marriages are expected to take place in the entirety of 2023.
