Hundreds Protest to Demand Compensation Amid Liquidation Appeal

Employees of Building and Civil Engineering Co Ltd (BCE) protested at Jardin de la Compagnie in Port Louis, expressing their frustration over the liquidator’s appeal against the Redundancy Board’s decision to pay them three months’ worth of salary.

The construction company went into liquidation in 2022, leaving many employees jobless.

While some have found new employment, others remain unemployed and are demanding their rightful compensation.

The employees, including long-serving ones, called on the government to address their plight before the situation worsens.

The case will be heard in court on July 24.

Mushtaq Oosman, Ruben Mooneesawmy, and Anjeev Hurry act joint liquidators.
