World federation stands with Air Mauritius staffs, condemns violation of union rights

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) has expressed its support and solidarity to the employees of Air Mauritius, specifically the Air Mauritius Cabin Crew Association (AMCCA) and its president, Yogita Baboo.

Baboo is currently on forced leave without pay due to COVID-related reasons.

The WFTU has reportedly condemned the actions of Air Mauritius Ltd’s administration, considering them a violation of trade unions’ democratic rights.

The WFTU highlighted that the airline has avoided negotiations with its employees by citing certain regulations, Le Mauricien newspaper reported.

The organisation has assured AMCCA members of its support in their fight for their rights.

The situation arose when Baboo was instructed not to make any further statements following an interview she gave as the Union President.

The State and Other Employees Federation criticised Air Mauritius’ management for violating the rights of a trade unionist.
