Tension mounts as casino employees in express discontent

Tensions are reported mounting among casino employees in Mauritius as they express their discontent with ongoing issues and the delayed sale of the casinos announced back in 2021.
Complaints include the non-payment of attendance bonuses, sudden demotions, unsatisfactory uniforms, and lack of hygiene.
The administration of the casinos has undergone significant changes, with three employees being asked to return to their previous positions, leading to concerns about job security.
The State Investment Corporation’s privatisation process, which is expected to be completed by July, has faced delays, and allegations of political interference have also surfaced.
The union is said to have filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labour.
