Ex- MT CEO Sherry Singh and wife arrested in 22 tonnes copper sale inquiry

Sherry Singh, former CEO of Mauritius Telecom (MT) and his wife were arrested in the evening of Monday, May 29, following a raid by the Special Striking Team, led by Chief Inspector Jagai, and forensic police officers at their residence in Ebene’s Bout du Monde.
They were taken to the Police Headquarters in Port Louis for further questioning.
The couple’s arrest comes in the wake of an investigation into the sale of copper cables by MT to Tradeway International Ltd.

This was reportedly confirmed by one of their lawyers, Anoop Goodary, who made a statement to the press after the more than two-hour search at the Singh couple’s residence, which ended at 8:45 pm.
Earlier on Monday, the couple had been summoned to the Police Headquarters for questioning in relation to the seizure of 22 tons of copper, worth Rs 18 million, at Tradeway International’s foundry in La Tour Koenig on April 10.
