Mauritius drops to shocking 117th place in global internet speed index
Mauritius has been ranked 117th out of 179 countries for its Internet speed, according to the latest Speedtest Global Index. The island dropped three places since the last ranking. The three countries with the fastest Internet are Singapore, Chile and China.
Singapore’s bandwidth speed is 234.55 Megabytes per second – in comparison, Mauritius’ speed is 27.29 Mb/s.
The bottom three on the list are Turkmenistan (2.32), Afghanistan (1.94) and Cuba (1.84). The African leader is Egypt (87th).
Burkina Faso, South Africa, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Rwanda, Gabon and Togo are all ahead of Mauritius. The Seychelles is at the 123rd place.
In the mobile Internet rankings, Mauritius is at the 80th place with a bandwidth speed of 25.43 Megabytes per second.
This is six places lower than in the previous edition of the Speedtest Global Index. First on the list is the United Arab Emirates (161.15 Megabytes per second), followed by Qatar (155.51) and Norway (136.08).
The top African country in terms of mobile speed is South Africa, which ranks 58th with a mobile Internet speed of 34.71 Mb/s.
