Opposition Leader: Talks with Labour Party were never 'off'

“Talks between the Entente de l’Espoir and the Labour Party were never ‘off’,” according to  Xavier-Luc Duval. The leader of the Opposition and that of the PMSD party is currently in London.

According to him, discussions will continue after his return to Mauritius, scheduled for Wednesday.

The Labour Party is reportedly focussing on the organization of public meetings that will be held throughout the country and on “defusing the crisis” within the party.

“We are consolidating our meetings in the 20 districts. However, discussions with the Entente de l’Espoir remain ‘on going’. We are preparing for the return to Parliament. It is certain that there will be discussions between the opposition parties,” a Labour spokesperson was cited as telling Defi Media.

For his part, MMM leader Paul Bérenger has reiterated that Nando Bodha has all the qualities to be Prime Minister.

However, he said that “if the Entente de l’Espoir grows, we will have to make a choice on the candidate who will be presented as Prime Minister.”
