Mauritius ICT minister claims to have received death threat

The Minister of Technology, Communication and Innovation Deepak claims to have been the subject of a death threat.

In a complaint reportedly filed at the Belle-Mare police station on July 25, Balgobin claimed he received a message on Facebook Messenger from an unknown person.

Balgobin has recently been subject to severe criticisms and mockery over his explanations on the “sniffing” scandal.

He had claimed that the laptop of the controversial Indian tech team who acceded to the Bois du Jacotet Landing Station would have “exploded” had “so much data” been downloaded.

His “explanation” has since then become viral memes on social networks.

According to Defi Media, the minister was accompanied by his lawyer, Me Abhishek Jugoo, during his statement to police.
