Composition of Air Mauritius Board of Directors revealed

Following a letter by the secretary of the Small Shareholders Association, Raj Ramlugun, Air Mauritius has reportedly disclosed the names of its directors.

The Board reportedly comprises:

• Marday Venkatasamy (Chairman)
• Nayen Koomar Ballah
• Rajiv Bansal
• Goolabchund Goburdhun (Chairperson Risk Committee)
• James Harold Mayer (Chairperson Audit Committee)
• Ammanah Ragavoodoo (Chairperson Remuneration and Nomination Committee)
• Patrick René Aimé Roux
• Muhammad Yoosuf Salemohamed (Chairperson Finance Committee)
• Philippe Epaminondas Gaston Maxime Sauzier (Chairperson Corporate Governance Committee).

According to l’Express, the airline’s Chairman Marday Venkatasamy also revealed that Air Mauritius is still listed on the Stock Exchange and that Airport Holdings Ltd (AHL) owned 94.04% of the airline’s shares as of February 4, 2022.

The nomination has been questioned by Ramlagun: “Has this been approved by a general meeting of shareholders? Or will it be during a special assembly?”

Ramlugun was quoted as questioning the “overnight appointment” of Dev Manraj, who was Chairman of Air Mauritius during the latter’s administration, to be Chairman of Airport Holdings Ltd, “the very company that launched a kind of takeover bid on Air Mauritius!”
