Batsirai hits power supply, thousands of households without electricity

Gusts and heavy rains lashed several parts of Mauritius on Wednesday due to cyclone Batsirai, uprooting electric poles and affecting power supply in many parts of the island.
At least 14,700 households are without electricity across the island, Chavan Dabeedin of the Central Electricity Board was cited as telling Radio Plus.

Among them are over 4,000 households in Rose Hill, followed by Vallée-Pitot (outside Port Louis), St Pierre, Pamplemousses, Morcellement St-André, Plaine-des-Papayes, Goodlands, éduit, Médine, Camp-de-Masque , Pointe d’Esny, Port-Louis and Rivière-Noire among others.

Defi Media had earlier cited officials of the Central Electricity Board as saying that debris carried by the wind are damaging its damaging its infrastructures.
