Gross international reserves of Mauritius grows by Rs36 billion

The Gross Official International Reserves (GOIR) of Mauritius increased by Rs36.6 billion, according to the Bank of Mauritius.

In its December 2021 Monthly Statistical Bulletin just released, the BoM said the reserves grew from Rs336.1 billion (equivalent to USD7,764.7 million) as at end-November 2021 to Rs372.7 billion (equivalent to USD8,562 million) as at end-December 2021.

Compared to end-December 2020, it added, the GOIR rose by Rs84.5 billion.

Based on the imports of goods (f.o.b.) and services for calendar year 2020, the reserves represented 21.8 months of imports, compared to 19.7 months as at end-November 2021 and 16.9 months as at end-December 2020.
