Harassment, piracy and abusive content top cybercrime list

The Mauritius Cybercrime Online Reporting System which is managed by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation has received 2113 complaints related to cyber-criminality from January to September 2021.

The most reported cybercriminal cases were online harassment (549 cases), piracy (409 cases), abusive content (388 cases) and identity theft (227 cases).

The other remaining complaints related to sextortion, cyber-stalking, cyber bullying, phishing, malware and scams.
