“As a post-pandemic world feels within arm’s reach, we know many Mauritians are thinking about how to travel responsibly, but also to get the appropriate cover. Travel insurance that accompanies you in COVID-19 situations is now a MUST.”

This development comes at a time when travel insurance specifically mentioning COVID-19 is now required by more than 40 countries.

MAPFRE will provide GFA Insurance customers with easy access to their cover and claims support 24/7.

“We are excited to support GFA Insurance in this journey as travel borders progressively open up and new opportunities arise,” said Eduardo Medeiros Coelho, of the African Business Unit at MAPFRE.

In addition to the customary benefits, travellers will be covered on COVID-related medical expenses and hospitalisation abroad.

Benefits will also include expenses linked to compulsory quarantine due to diagnosed COVID-19.

The policy will also cover emergency medical evacuation and repatriation.
