Port-Louis Waterfront-based restaurant Borsalino Ltd, popularly known as ‘Beer & Spice’ has been ordered to vacate its premises by December 13 due to non-payment of rent.

Borsalino is owned by Koomaran Chetty, who also owns the restaurant Le Capitaine.

Landscope Mauritius Ltd had seized the Supreme Court demanding an eviction order against Borsalino Ltd, which has been running a restaurant at the Port-Louis Waterfront since 1998.

Landscope claimed the business ceased to pay the rent since 2014 and now owes over Rs2.6 million.

Le Mauricien newspaper reported that Supreme Court Judge Abdurafeek Hamuth had earlier ruled in favour of Landcope Ltd. Borsalino Ltd’s consequent appeal was also rejected by Judge Renuka Dabee.

Borsalino Ltd has until December 31 to vacate its current premises.
