The Alliance de l’Espoir (Alliance of Hope), which brings together opposition parties (except the Labour Party) has called for the immediate revocation of the members of the Central Procurement Board, Le Mauricien reported.

It cited the Leader of the Opposition and that of the PMSD, Xavier-Luc Duval as telling a press conference that the CPB has been shaken by a multitude of scandals and a new board should be constituted with “competent people” in order to restore the confidence of the population in the government-run entity.

Over the past weeks, the integrity of this organisation was smeared by an investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) into a Rs 4.3 billion contract for the rehabilitation of the Central Electricity Board (CEB) Saint-Louis power station.
