Redundancy Board rules against four employers over lay-offs

The Redundancy Board has, according to Defi Media, ruled against four employers that laid off their employees based “on economic reasons linked to COVID-19.”

In these cases, the management of the companies were reportedly unable to provide convincing arguments to justify the lay-offs.

“On several occasions, employers were taken to task for repeating the need to downsize their teams, while their financial statements showed they had enough reserves to protect the jobs.”

The four companies are Frais de l’Artigano Ltd (Tourism), Impact Production (Events), Health Contact Center Ltd (Health) and Atics (Cleaning).

Impact Production had benefitted from the Wage Assistance Scheme, but fired 21 employees.
