Air Mauritius postpones Watershed Meeting (again)

Mauritius national airline’s watershed meeting, which was scheduled to be held before the end of this month (after two postponements), has been postponed for next year. Air Mauritius went into administration in April 2020.

In a communiqué issued on Tuesday, June 8 – and reproduced by l’Express – the administrators said the deadline for holding the creditors’ meeting has been extended following a decision of the Supreme Court.

The new date for the meeting has now been set for January 31, 2022. “Our final proposals will depend greatly on the financial support that the major funders are prepared to give to the company. Discussions have been initiated and we hope that the necessary arbitrations will be made quickly in order to allow us to hold the watershed meeting before January 31, 2022,” said administrators Sattar Hajee Abdoula and Arvindsingh Gokhool.

Administrators argued that “external factors” have impacted their work but claimed to have saved the airline Rs 1.75Billion annually.

However, they warned that the savings “are not enough to get the company out of voluntary administration.”
