The ‘Le Kolektif Pa Tous Nou Sim Card’ group is not giving up, despite the ongoing legal challenge from Me Pazhany Rengasamy.

A new protest will be held this Sunday, April 21st in Rose-Hill.

Percy Yip Tong, one of the spokespersons for the collective, explains that they have received new information since the last protest.

“One of the assessors of the drug commission has clearly stated that this measure, regarding the re-registration of SIM cards, will not apply to the entire population.

Therefore, the government’s arguments no longer hold up,” said the activist.

He continued, “It is mainly SIM cards used in prisons that should be monitored. Why not implement a jamming system to restrict the use of cell phones in prisons?”

Regarding the organization of the march, Percy Yip Tong explained that a letter has already been sent to the Commissioner of Police.

So far, there has been no objection from the Chief of Police to the holding of this citizen march.
