The Mauritian Collective for Roches Noires, consisting of Eclosia, IBL, Scott, and Currimjee, has formally opposed the Roches Noires Smart City project.

They have submitted public comments on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report by PR Capital, the French investor group behind the project.

The collective argues that the EIA report is deficient and fails to meet legal requirements, lacking a comprehensive analysis of the project’s environmental effects and measures to mitigate impact.

They highlight the project’s potential irreversible loss of a unique natural landscape and its vulnerability to climate change.

The collective calls on authorities to reject the project and highlights the government’s risk of losing international funding for climate resilience.

The nature park project proposed by a Mauritian consortium has gained support and recognition from citizen groups and banks.
